Within two days of January 21st and 22nd 2019, Assoc. Prof. Vo Van Thang - Rector of An Giang University, along with the mission led by Prof. Dr. Phung Xuan Nha - the Minister, attended Ministry of Education and Training’s activities at World Education Forum in the United Kingdom.
On 21st January 2019, the mission visited and worked with ICAEW – The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales at Mooragate Palace. Welcoming the mission were Mrs. Fiona Wilkinson - Vice-president, Mr. Adam Birt - Head of Department of Strategy and Development, Mrs. Kate Holroyd-Smith - Director of Business Development, Mrs. Sarah Prescott - Director of International Relations, Mr. James Douglass - Director of Media Relations, and Mrs. Lisa Banks - Head of Department of Trade and Investment, British Embassy in Vietnam and members.
At the meeting, Mrs. Fiona Wilkinson introduced missions and roles of ICAEW in education in the United Kingdom and opportunities to cooperate with Vietnam’s Ministry of Education and Training, especially Vietnam’s universities, in Accounting training certificated by ACCA – Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.
On 22nd January 2019, the mission attended “Forum on Educational Investment and Cooperation between Vietnam and the United Kingdom” at London University. Chairing the forum were Minister Phung Xuan Nha and Mr. Tran Ngoc Anh - Ambassador of Vietnam in the United Kingdom considered as representatives of Vietnam and Mr. Hon Edward Vaizey - Britain Prime Minister’s special emissary of trade in Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia and Mr. Graeme Davies - Rector of London University regarded as representatives of the United Kingdom. At the forum, Mr. Pham Quang Hung - Director General of Authority of International Relations, Ministry of Education and Training, informed preferential, investment attracting and cooperating policies in education in Vietnam. British speakers also presented opportunities, challenges and success of investing in education in Vietnam.
The forum attracted more than 220 delegates as regarded representatives of universities, publishing companies, consulting educational services companies, British Council and English certificate assessment organizations to attend. Besides, delegates also put some questions to the Minister and speakers about policies, trends and potential careers which people have the need of being trained in Vietnam. The mission of Ministry of Education and Training’s activities continued until the day of 26th January 2019.
