On July 15, 2019, an international scientific workshop took place at An Giang University on the topic "Living Lab Upper Mekong Delta - Field experimental models in the Upper Mekong Delta". The workshop was one of the activities to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the establishment of An Giang University.

The seminar was co-organized by An Giang University and Van Hall Larenstein University of Applied Sciences, Hogeschool Zeeland University of Applied Sciences (Holland) and the Center for Water and Climate Change Management at Vietnam National University, HCM City.
Attending the workshop were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vo Van Thang - Rector of An Giang University, Dr. Ho Thanh Binh - Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture & Natural Resources; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Hong Quan – the Vice Director in charge of Center for Water and Climate Change Management (VNU HCM City), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Duong Van Chin - Chairman of Dinh Thanh Agricultural Science Research Center (DTARC), Mekong Delta Rice Institute, International Fund for Nature Protection (WWF) in Ho Chi Minh City, representatives of departments or agencies of An Giang, Dong Thap, Kien Giang, Can Tho and businesses inside and outside the province. As for international visitors, there came experts on Water and Climate Change Management from Van Hall Larenstein University of Applied Sciences and Hogeschool Zeeland University of Applied Sciences.

Speaking at the opening of the workshop, Rector Vo Van Thang sent greetings to international experts from the Netherlands, the Center for Water and Climate Change Management and all participants. He hoped that after the workshop, Van Hall Larenstein University, Hogeschool Zeeland University and VNU HCMC would further strengthen the cooperation with An Giang University in the field of education, training and scientific research.
At the workshop, the experts shared information to clarify Living Lab's concepts, roles and applications. This concept is understood as a practical research model, bringing the knowledge of circulating economic principles into solving notable problems of the environment (especially water environment) in various areas.. This research model has the simultaneous participation of 4 subjects: Residential Communities, Scientists, Local Government and Enterprises.
The workshop took place with the enthusiastic contribution of participants' ideas to developing specific action plans for Living Lab models in An Giang, Dong Thap and the Mekong Delta region, in order to connect Living Lab with the strategies of the region and nations and with governmental fundings. The discussed Living Lab models focused on addressing the issues including Agriculture and value chains; Environment and plastic; Water resource management.

The "Living Lab Upper Mekong Delta" workshop initially clarified relatively new concepts, initial applications of the Living Lab model, and also served as a premise to connect communities, scientific research ideas and increased the reputation of An Giang University.
