On 17 November 2018 at Meeting Room 2, An Giang University held a workshop on Preservation and Promotion of Cham Culture in Promoting An Giang Tourism chaired by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vo Van Thang – Rector of An Giang University.
Attending the workshop were Dr. Phu Van Han – Deputy Head of the Institute of Social Sciences in Southern Vietnam, Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Chi – Deputy Head of An Giang Association of Entrepreneurs, and researchers.
An Giang has the largest Cham population nationwide. Estimated by Ethnic Minority Association, An Giang had 15.327 Cham Islam members with distinct cultural aspects. The workshop addressed the issues in Cham culture to promote tourism industry in An Giang.
At the workshop, the researchers presented Cham cultural values, preservation and promotion of Cham culture for tourism development, identification of Cham cultures in the South and Central Vietnam.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vo Van Thang highly appreciated the contributions of the researcher participants through their presentations, discussions and ideas to help preserve and promote Cham culture in An Giang for tourism development.
The workshop was part of the project on Preservation and Promotion of Cham Culture for An Giang Tourism Development led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vo Van Thang.
